Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (miscarriage)

Morning Session 9am- 12.30pm: Pregnancy Loss

It is a surprise for many women to discover how common miscarriage actually is - one in five pregnancies ends in a miscarriage. A miscarriage of pregnancy can shatter dreams. While individual reactions to pregnancy loss vary, most women find the experience deeply distressing. There is also a lack of understanding by many on how deeply distressed the partners are.

The afternoon session will include post-miscarriage recovery in a holistic approach: nutrition, self-care and reflexology. Reflexology has been shown an excellent therapy for stress relief, and decrease anxiety. Reflexology helps to rebalance the endocrine and the lymphatic system. If there is a risk of fetal loss due to other causes, such as habitual miscarriage, when the client has reflexology her being is more balanced and so there is a good possibility that she will be able to maintain her pregnancy. Reflexology can't cause miscarriage, as miscarriage is a reaction of the body NOT a response to reflexology.

Overall, it is always good to have reflexology treatments during pregnancy and especially after a miscarriage to balance out the endocrine glands and hormones. Practical session with the Maternity Reflexology Endocrine Balance will be included in the workshop.

Afternoon Session 1.30pm- 4.30pm: Infertility

One in six Australian couples of reproductive age, experience difficulty conceiving a child. Causes of infertility are many and varied and involve male, female or a combination of factors. There are different treatments for infertility, some are more effective than others and some more appropriate in a given situation. This session will include why couples have trouble conceiving (including polycystic ovary syndrome), a brief overview of medical fertility treatments and general pre-pregnancy tips.

Many couples are looking for a more natural approach especially when they have tried unsuccessfully with medical fertility treatments. For others, the natural way is their first option. Reflexology and natural therapies provides a chance for couples to work together with the reflexologist in mutual consideration and respect for the importance of the physical, psychological and spiritual environment around conception.

Practical session will be a combination of colour light, chakra and endocrine balance reflexology. Colour light reflexology torches will be provided.

Lyndall Mollart is a qualified Nurse, Midwife, Reflexologist, Reiki Master, and has completed the Certificate IV Trainer and Assessor. Lyndall has 20 years experience working as a midwife in all areas of maternity care. Lyndall completed her Diploma in Reflexology with Susanne Enzer in 2000. Lyndall has utilised her reflexology skills for women to ease the discomforts of pregnancy, birthing and recovering from the birth experience. She was instrumental in introducing a reflexology policy in her local maternity unit with approval from the hospital's ethics committee. Lyndall is the author of many midwifery and reflexology articles and research investigator. Lyndall facilitates maternity reflexology courses and workshops to midwives and reflexologist throughout Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
